The Northern Rivers Food Links website was developed as an information source for the NRFL project during its implementation stage. The Sustain Food website was developed as the consumer face of the NRFL project and continues to be maintained as an ongoing legacy of the NRFL project. The Northern Rivers Food Links Project was a council cooperation initiative of the 7 Northern Rivers Councils and Rous Water. As a collaborative partnership, we worked together to secure a sustainable food future for the region.
The Northern Rivers Food Links Project sought to mitigate climate change impacts associated with food production and distribution, and strengthen community resilience to climate change and peak oil impacts. The project had a budget of $1, 999,080 to implement a range of initiatives identified within the Northern Rivers Food Links Business Plan during 2010 and 2011, including:

- Food Production and Distribution in Indigenous Communities Project
- Sustainable Agriculture Projects
- Local Government Resource Kit
- Discretionary Projects
